Three awards earned by Belarusian rowers at ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup, held in German Duisburg

Men’s 1,000m kayak pairs, Vitaly Belko and Roman Petrushenko, claimed gold, being ahead of the Serbians (who finished second) by 0.084 seconds. Poles were the third.


Silver was claimed by Belarusian men’s 200m canoe pairs — Gleb Solodukha and Dmitry Ryabchenko while Darya Boichevsklaya finished third in women’s 1,000m kayak singles.

On the final day of the competitions women’s 200m kayak four, represented by Margarita Makhneva, Nadezhda Lepeshko, Olga Khudenko and Margarita Litvinchuk, pleased us managing to defeat the Ukrainian team in the decisive sprint race. Meanwhile, Belarusian women finished second in 500m kayak four event.

Four canoeists — Dmitry Ryabchenko, Denis Makhlai, Gleb Solodukha and Alexander Volchetsky — have also entered the top step of the medals podium, showing the best time in 200m distance.

Two Belarusian crews also claimed awards in women’s 500m canoe pairs finals, with Nadezhda Makarchenko and Yelena Nozdreva earning silver while Darina Pikuleva and Kamila Bobr snatching bronze. Meanwhile, Nikita Borikov earned silver in men’s 500m kayak singles. All the above mentioned ship’s classes are non-Olympic. However, the national team of Belarus also has medals in the Olympic types of the programme. Women’s 500m kayak four won silver, losing just 0.047 seconds to Ukraine while men’s 1,000m kayak four (Pavel Medvedev, Oleg Yurenya, Vitaly Belko and Roman Petrushenko) snatched bronze, losing only to Australians and Russians.
