Tourists from Russia, the UK and Germany spend most in Belarus

The Director of the Tourism Department of the Sports and Tourism Ministry, Vadim Karmazin, recently took part in a round table discussion devoted to tourism, noting that, from January-June 2014, Russians were the most ‘generous’ tourists — spending almost 6 percent more than in the same period of 2013 (and comprising over half of total tourist service exports). Guests from the UK, Germany, Turkey, the USA, Italy, China, Lithuania, Cyprus, France and Poland were among the others of note.

This year, Switzerland joined the top ratings, with its citizens spending over double as much as previously in Belarus.

Among the 167 nationalities visiting our country between January and June, those from Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Moldova and Germany led, accounting for 91 percent of all tourists coming to Belarus in the first six months.
