Executive Committee of Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation recognises Andrey Stas — the forward of Belarus’ national football team and Nizhnekamsk’s Neftekhimik — as best player of 2015/2016 season

At the recently held 80th IIHF World Championship, Andrey Stas proved himself a key figure on the Belarusian squad, playing in all seven matches with the national team, scoring five goals. Last season, in the KHL, he played in 47 matches for Neftekhimik in the regular championship, earning 13 (5+8) points via the ‘goal+pass’ system. He also took part in three matches in the play-offs, playing for the Nizhnekamsk team.

Mikhail Zakharov was voted best coach of the 2015/16 season, helping HC Yunost Minsk win the President’s Cup in the Extra League. The team has also qualified for the Champions League, being held in August 2016.

The Executive Committee of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation has confirmed Yuri Faikov as head coach of the Belarus U17, U18 and U20 teams. Our youth team will play in the Belarus Extra League Open Championship from next season.

The Executive Committee has discussed a preliminary schedule for the Ruslan Salei Cup (Belarus Cup) and the 25th Belarus Open Ice Hockey Championship. The time frames of the tournaments will change, due to the participation of the national squad of Belarus in the final Olympic qualification round, from September 1st-4th. The Cup’s first stage will be held from August 1st to 11th, 2016 while the semi-final matches played in September and the finals in October.

The Belarus Championship will launch on September 8th, 2016, with the seventh (final) game of the final series scheduled for April 5th, 2017. During the Salei Cup, the 3 on 3 overtime format will be tested.
