Real prospects are evident

Over 200 tractors to be manufactured annually at Minsk Tractor Works’ assembly line in Georgia
“This year, we plan to organise tractor assembly in Georgia, being already at the closing stage. We should make at least 200 units of machinery there annually,” notes MTZ JSC’s Deputy Marketing Director for Commercial Operations in the CIS, Ukraine and Georgia, Alexander Kazakevich. Speaking during a visit by the Georgian Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, to the enterprise, Mr. Kazekevich underlined that the Georgian Technical University is already a partner. He explained, “Assembly production is to be established at this educational establishment. Moreover, the university will act as a talent foundry. The project involves a private company, so will be a good example of public private partnership.”

Mr. Kazakevich informs us that, this year, MTZ plans to increase supply of its machinery to Georgia. He tells us that MTZ tractors enjoy popularity in Georgia, with around 18,000 units operational there. He notes that the 80HP tractor is the biggest seller (as in most former Soviet states). He adds that, recently, the enterprise extended its agreement with Hermes Ltd., to supply 85 units, worth $1.5m.

Since 2011, Batumi has hosted assembly and manufacturing of agricultural machinery. It currently assembles and produces components and bogies for single-axle tractors. In 2015, it launched production of ‘Belarus-311’ small-sized tractors.
