“In the State of the Nation Address to the Belarusian People and the National Assembly, President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed the absolute importance of peace and security. Such a position is welcomed by us,” stressed the diplomat. “The role of Belarus in the international arena is nowadays characterised by its weighty contribution to the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, the development of strategic relations with Russia inside the Union State, as well as the strengthening of political and economic ties with China and other countries.”
According to the diplomat, these factors create good conditions for the active promotion of Belarus’ national and economic interests, alongside reinforcement of its international contacts.
“In my opinion, the adoption of a contemporary Military Doctrine which has a defensive character and strengthening of the Armed Forces represents Belarus’ significant contribution to the fight against terrorism in a global context,” added Mr. Davila.
The diplomat believes that the country’s participation in the Eurasian Economic Union — one of the largest common markets in the world — will soon become the catalyst for a rapprochement with the Latin American and Caribbean countries, a ‘geopolitical’ window, enabling Belarus to occupy a new position in the international arena.
