Over the last three or four years, Belarus has made significant progress in the economic sphere

This is the opinion expressed by the representative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Tony Bonnici. His comments refer to parliamentary hearings on Public-Private Partnerships: International Experience and Prospects for the Republic of Belarus.

Representatives of the EEU in the UN have praised several aspects of the Belarusian bill on public-private partnership and have noted them as good examples of advanced world practice. Tony Bonnici points out that the document has made reference to the international court of arbitration. This is an important point for investors, as without this stipulation, it is very difficult to attract investments. Provisions regarding the free conclusion of contracts and other norms are also important. As he reminds us, however, the law regarding public-private partnership must be above other laws, in case of conflict.
