In the first match, Belarus defeated its guests 2:1, taking the lead after Yuri Rybalko and Alexander Chernik both managed a goal. In the second half, one of the five ‘Azerbaijani’ Brazilians, Fineo, also scored.
The second match also proved intense, culminating in both teams claiming two goals. In the 7th minute, Azerbaijani Augusto opened the score. Alexander Gaiduk and Dmitry Los responded with two balls in the net, in the 18th and 28th minutes respectively. However, in the 29th minute, Brazil-born Eduardo took Azerbaijan’s second goal, to finish with a draw.
Belarus is ranked 24th among national teams while Azerbaijan is 12th. Both squads are preparing for participation in the March qualification matches, for the 2016 European Championships. In less than a month, Vladimir Ignatik’s trainees will play in Poland, against the Poles, Italians and Finns, within the 3rd qualifying group.
