French Toulouse planning greater interaction with Belarus

The agreement was reached in Toulouse, during a trade-economic and investment co-operation event, organised by the Embassy of Belarus to France, held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Toulouse and the Midi-Pyrénées Region. Representatives of 32 French companies took part. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, H.E. Mr. Pavel Latushko, met Alain Di Crescenzo, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Toulouse and the Midi-Pyrénées Region, to discuss how best to accelerate trade.

Mr. Di Crescenzo noted that trade between the Midi-Pyrénées Region and Belarus exceeded 10m Euros in 2013 but that much more is possible. An agreement was signed to arrange visits by business circles and to establish co-operation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Toulouse and the Midi-Pyrénées Region and regional chambers of commerce and industry across Belarus. The opportunities offered by the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union also came under discussion.

The Ambassador of Belarus also met the Head of the Economic Department of the city of Toulouse, who spoke in favour of stepping up co-operation with Belarus and stressed his readiness to provide support in establishing contacts.
