Not enough to reach finals

Minsk hosts week-long Saleo Cup tennis tournament, with prize fund of $25,000, and representatives of 12 countries taking part
In the decisive singles match, Belarusian Vera Lapko (ranked 641st worldwide) lost to Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya (529th) — 4:6, 3:6. “My final performance was not a success,” Vera said after the match. “My rival played superbly and managed to cope better with the strong wind. Meanwhile, I weak-mindedly ceded victory. I’m upset, as I really wanted to win on my home ground. I’ve faced Ms. Kalinskaya six or seven times before, winning the last two matches, so I knew her strong and weak sides. However, under these weather conditions, I failed to realise my plans. If nothing changes, I’ll participate in the Marat Zverev Memorial in Minsk.”
