New Dimension

One year is not a jubilee, but it is enough to tell a mature, grown-up project from a poor amateurish attempt. The magazine “Беларусь. Belarus” is one year old. This is a fact, no emotions involved. Just one year, but we believe the magazine has been a success, and 12 months has been enough for “Беларусь. Belarus” to step into a new dimension
Belarus” to step into a new dimension.

There are various periodicals, all of them so eager to fill their niches and win over the reader. “Беларусь. Belarus” has a very noble and prominent goal — to tell the world the richness of this country, of this nation. Seems an easy task with so many bright events and people to speak about.

The world is ready and yearning for news from Belarus. We feel this attitude and try hard to inform our readers, including those outside the country, about what happens here, what Belarusians are like and how rich the history and culture of this country are.

The issue you hold in your hands contains a unique article about the values of Belarusian culture. “A museum more precious than the Louvre”.

This entry in the visitors’ book was left by one of the numerous tourists that left the Vetka Folk Arts Museum in the Gomel Region. It was not just a “polite remark” of one of the thankful sightseers, but a true reaction of an impressed person. It is this museum in the Gomel Region that attracts up to 60,000 visitors annually. It is no less than 6 times the population of the town. These rarities that saw what was going on in Belarus several centuries ago take us back to the sources of our cultural heritage. As a magazine, we can only help the readers to get to this wonderful and beautiful world faster.

Space stations and shuttles have taken man closer to the stars, but space still remains unfathomable and fills us with awe of the unknown. But what about the first Belarusian satellite that is to be launched in March?! This is great news, this is another step that may unveil another secret of the universe. As our correspondent reports, the preparation for the launch is underway. The satellite, created by a hundred companies and agencies, has already been tested in Russia’s Federal Space Agency. BELKA is unique, as no other country of the world can make satellites of the kind. A great achievement even before the launch, isn’t it? Who knows, March may become the month to open Belarus’ space era.

Belarus already has a star, by the way: 17-year-old Katya Domankova from Minsk won the 25th annual Super Model of the World contest in New York, leaving behind 38 beauties from all over the world. Belarusian fashion designers presented their collections in Rome, and the Italian public was deeply impressed by the Belarusian style making its way on the catwalk. Belarus is welcome in Europe and the world with its beauty and fashion. This is another leap into a new dimension.
