New Belarusian editions on show at International Book Salon in St. Petersburg

Belarusian publishing projects from 2015 and 2016 have been on display at the 11th St. Petersburg International Book Salon. Those published to mark the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing (to be celebrated in 2017) and the birth anniversaries of eminent Belarusians (classical writers of Belarusian literature and famous cultural figures) were in the spotlight. The fair also showcased Belarusian projects devoted to the Year of Culture in Belarus and the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe.

The Belarus, Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopaedia, Mastatskaya Litaratura, Vysheishaya Shkola, Narodnaya Asveta, Pachatkovaya Shkola, Belovagroup, and Aversev publishing houses presented their editions in St. Petersburg, alongside an eventful programme of workshops. Aimed at enhancing the professional skills of publishing industry workers, they received the chance to chat with leaders in their sphere. More than 300 publishing houses, book distributors, printing companies, producers of audio and video content, libraries, and professional associations from Russia took part, as well as those from around the globe.

The Belarusian Information Ministry regularly participates in the international book salon in St. Petersburg, displaying its newest national publishing industry products. Belarus was the guest of honour at the 10th St. Petersburg International Book Salon in 2015.
