On hearing report from Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, Alexander Lukashenko notes that Belarus’ losses from Russia’s tax manoeuvre may exceed $1bn

“Last year, we agreed in principle the concessions to be gained by Belarus within the economic union,” noted the Head of State. “As is known, Russia is undertaking some tax manoeuvres that may render null everything we agreed upon last year. This pertains to the transfer to the Russian budget of duties on oil products, levied at the border. As far as I know, talks are underway to solve this issue.”

“It is not normal for agreements recently enacted to be annulled. As a result, Belarus may lose a tremendous amount of money: over $1bn,” underlined Mr. Lukashenko. He has asked the PM about progress in negotiations and emphasises the need for a wise state budget. Mr. Lukashenko touched upon the forthcoming session of the CIS Heads of State and the official visit of the Turkmenistan President to Belarus.
