President of Belarus awards Gennady Zyuganov with Order of Friendship of Peoples
The leader of the Communist Party faction of the Russian Federation in the State Duma and the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, is always a welcome guest in Minsk. Gennady Zyuganov, who heads a large faction in the Russian State Duma and is an influential politician for our strategic partner, Russia, has made a major personal contribution to the development of our solid Belarusian-Russian relations.
Meeting at the Palace of Independence, the Belarusian President stressed the colossal scale of our 20th century geopolitical catastrophe, saying, “We lost the country, but the worst thing was that we lost the system which took decades to create and which was unparalleled worldwide. It has been necessary to polish and improve it…”
Mr. Zyuganov agreed with Mr. Lukashenko, saying, “We’ve been already ahead of the whole planet and now we’ve come to the point when we are being squeezed out even from the Olympic Games. If we supplemented each other and simultaneously less haggle over prices — for oil, gas, meat or milk — but thought about efficient co-operation we could compete with anyone in the world.”
The Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation promised that his party will do everything it can for confident development of the Union State and noted a special role of Belarus in this process, “There’re several supreme values in life for me. These are primarily justice, friendship among nations, humanism and love for the Homeland. I believe that the Belarusian land is the guardian of these values.”
