MAZ and KAMAZ have major plans

Minsk Automobile Works (MAZ) has joined forces with Kama Automobile Plant to create the largest car manufacturer in the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Community
According to the Adviser of the Director General of KAMAZ, Eduard Rapnitsky, MAZ and KAMAZ are to work together to ensure their place among fierce competition. “From large blocks of shares in the two companies, we’ll create a holding company to co-ordinate joint projects and sales, including the purchasing of component parts and materials,” notes Mr. Rapnitsky. “We believe it will be the largest in the CIS and Eurasian Economic Community. I’m delighted by our mutual understanding and hope that, next year, we’ll be able to discuss the results of our collaboration.”

Mr. Rapnitsky recently took part in the Minsk International Scientific and Technical Conference entitled Innovations in Mechanical Engineering 2012, dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the creation of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It was organised by the Steel Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Education.

Scientific and technical developments by the Steel Institute were on display while the Republican Scientific and Technical Library exhibited novelties of scientific literature. Over 100 reports were given, by academics, doctors of science and over 80 candidates of science — from scientific institutions, higher educational institutes and industrial enterprises in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Canada and Singapore.
