National Tennis Academy opens in Minsk

The National Tennis Academy is located in a new building at the Palace of Tennis, offering 8 indoor and 15 outdoor courts, with different types of surface, open all year. The academy includes a specialised medical centre, gym facilities, a swimming pool, a small hotel and a cryo-sauna to help athletes recover after training or competitions. A clay surface court is soon to open.

“The Tennis Academy will comply with all the standards necessary for the successful training of athletes,” notes the Chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Association and Chairman of Board of Directors of Amkodor JSC, the Managing Company of Amkodor Holding, Alexander Shakutin.

Speaking at the launch of the National Tennis Academy, Mr. Shakutin notes that good tennis courts and coaching staff, specialised equipment and medical support are all essential components in training tomorrow’s tennis stars. “We’ll soon develop a computer programme that will design individual schedules for every player — for each day, week and month,” he noted.

Seven more tennis centres are being built in Minsk, with negotiations underway to create tennis schools in each region of Belarus.
