Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation reaches preliminary agreement with Canadian Dave Lewis on continuing as head coach of Belarusian national team

Dave Lewis is expected to arrive in Belarus on August 13th, with a new contract signed once he is settled in Belarus. Moreover, a long-term contract has been signed with Vladimir Bure, as assistant head coach of the Belarusian national team (making him responsible for basic training).

“The 2015 World Championship has shown the necessity of liaising with this high class specialist,” notes the Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation (BIHF), Igor Rachkovsky, adding that Vladimir Bure will also perform the role of counsellor to the BIHF Chairman. The coaching staff is keeping on foreign specialists Michael Lehner and Craig Woodcroft.

Dave Lewis is to be assisted by Oleg Antonenko and Andrei Mezin, with whom contracts have been previously concluded. All will take part in training Belarus’ national squad, as well as the country’s junior teams.
