Belarus and Russia intend to set up a joint centre for laser technology


Laser able to do a great deal

The new Belarusian-Russian R&D Centre for Laser Technology is expected to open in Minsk. “As planned, it will focus on the most important and new practical technologies in the field of lasers and their application,” academician Sergey Bagayev, the Director of the Laser Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Siberian Branch, explains. The Centre will concentrate on different spheres — including laser use in agriculture and their application for the advanced processing of oil products to produce modern materials.

Sergey Kilin — the Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus — adds, that the new Centre will be established within six months, in line with the joint action plan with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
