Alexander Lukashenko followed Easter tradition by visiting regional churches as ‘a tribute to our people and clergy’. The President expressed gratitude for their service to the Motherland and the heavy burden of responsibility to the development of Belarus borne by the clergy and others. Mr. Lukashenko said that Belarus is a young sovereign state but much has been already done to develop it. However, more also lies ahead. The President admitted that he also bears great responsibility for the Belarusian land. “I’m responsible for the people who have entrusted this position to me,” he said.
