Belenergo co-operating with Finnish partners to generate energy using local fuel sources

Belenergo is to work with Valmet Power OY, following the signing of a memorandum of mutual understanding, during the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum in Minsk. The First Deputy Minister of Energy, Leonid Shenets, tells us, “The document was signed with the purpose of developing co-operation in the generation of heat and electricity, using local fuels.” In particular, Belarusian and Finnish power engineers are to jointly develop projects to implement new technologies.

The memorandum also covers technological interaction, and the exchange of data and information relating to the electro-energy sector. Joint measures are planned to raise energy efficiency, including advanced training for personnel working at heat installations in Belarus.

The First Deputy Minister mentioned that, during the current energy forum, the State Institute of Retraining and Professional Development of Gas Service Staff (the Gas-Institute) signed an agreement with Moldovan Flakera Albastre. This promotes mutual co-operation in the fields of scientific research, specialised oil and gas software, and personnel training. Also planned is joint development of educational materials based on modern information technology.

The 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecological Forum was overseen by the Prime Minister of Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich, and included the international specialised exhibition Energy Expo, as well as the 9th International specialised exhibition Water & Air Technologies, the 10th specialised exhibition of lighting equipment ExpoLight, and the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecological Congress.
