The Federation of Italian charitable associations plans to open its office in Minsk, according to the president of the federation, Antonio Bianchi.
He stressed that Italy was interested in a long-term targeted cooperation with Belarus, especially in the recuperation of Belarusian children from the Chernobyl-hit areas in Italy.
At present there are many charitable organizations in Italy involved in the minimization of the effects of the Chernobyl accident. All of them have been united into a federation. Last year Italy accounted for most of the Belarusian children that were on recuperation holidays abroad.
Antonio Bianchi specifically noted that the federation planned to carry out a large number of additional charitable actions timed to the anniversary of the tragedy in order to raise funds to be able to provide recreation to more children from Belarus.
