Vasily finished second in the men’s individual time trial, covering 40km in 45 minutes and 28 seconds, slightly behind titled Tony Martin of Germany. This was the fourth World Championship gold for Mr. Martin, while bronze went to Spain’s Jonathan Castroviejo. Konstantin Sivtsov of Belarus finished 32nd and Bronislav Samoilov crossed the finish line in 45th place.
The Doha medal is the fourth for Vasily. In the same discipline, he was first in 2015 and third in 2012. In 2013, the Belarusian cyclist won bronze in the team race. In the past, he has also won a World Championship track event and celebrated victory at the Baku European Games.
