Belarus calls for united efforts at international level to fight terrorism

Belarus’ Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei, has told South African newspaper Business Day that the global community can only tackle today’s challenges by working together — including in the fight against terrorism.

He stated, “We need to unite our efforts against terrorism and for the achievement of concrete results. Belarus has well-developed industry, and makes no secret of its export of military hardware, or its training of foreign military. Several weeks ago, I visited Baghdad, where the issue of terrorism is to the fore. The possibility of the emergence of an Islamic state in Asia poses a huge danger to mankind and to the international community.”

“Accordingly, we should unite our efforts. Belarus is ready to provide assistance to countries facing terrorism threats, in full compliance with international law,” added the Minister.

He stressed that Belarus does not maintain contact with countries under international UN sanctions.
