Belarusian runner Olga Mazurenok wins 32nd California International Marathon, held in US Sacramento

The track-and-field athlete ran the race with a worthy time of 2:27.33 — significantly improving her personal marathon record and breaking (by almost 2 minutes) the course record, set 15 years ago. Jane Kibii of Kenya was second, almost five minutes behind the winner, while Kristen Zaitz of the United States finished third. American Renee Baillie, viewed as a favourite in the Sacramento marathon, finished fourth.

In summer 2012, Olga Mazurenok claimed victory at the 23rd Siberian International Marathon, held in Omsk during strong heat. The Belarusian athlete beat women, as well as men, covering the distance within a time of 2:44.47: the best result in the history of that marathon. This August, the Belarusian sportswoman took part in the European Athletics Championships in Swiss Zurich, finishing 7th in the 10,000m women’s final, with a record time of 32:31.15.
