Nikolay Lugansky to perform at the Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival, to be held in Minsk

Minsk will host the Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival for the 11th time. It is scheduled for September 30th-October 11th and its programme remains a secret. However, it’s known that the world’s most popular pianist, Nikolay Lugansky, will take part: on October 1st, he’ll give a concert at the State Philarmonic, as part of the Piano Forte Legends festival series.

“The musician has already participated in our festival with solo performances but, this time, something new will be presented,” the festival organiser and Belarusian piano player, Rostislav Krimer, commented. “Audiences will enjoy two concerts for piano and orchestra on a single night.”

Minskers will hear Sergey Prokofiev’s third piano forte concert followed by Sergey Rakhmaninov’s Paganini-based rhapsody. “Two weeks later, Nikolay Lugansky will perform them in Berlin and Athens but the Belarusian capital will pioneer it,” Mr. Krimer proudly admitted.

Tickets to the autumn festival are already on sale. Nikolay Lugansky has been called the most romantic pianist of our age.
