A 4m tall monument to People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarus Vladimir Mulyavin, the founder of Pesnyary folk group, has been unveiled in his home city of Yekaterinburg. The composition is the work of Belarusian sculptor Sergey Logvin, who holds a golden medal from the USSR Academy of Arts. The huge sculpture shows the well-loved singer in onstage dress, holding an electric guitar, and stands in the centre of Yekaterinburg, on the avenue leading to the Kosmos Movie Theatre and Concert Hall box office. The group performed regularly at the Kosmos for over two decades, visiting it on tour. The unveiling was following by the playing of Vladimir Mulyavin’s most loved hits, at the Ural’s State Variety Theatre.
