I’m Against Spice information campaign — involving famous Belarusian athletes — grows every day

Every day, sport stars are placing videos on the Internet featuring themselves performing push-ups and announcing: ‘Sport gives more than drugs. I’m against spice! I choose life’. The baton then passes to a friend in another video. Some demonstrate their physical prowess in the clips whilst others choose dance or a creative approach. Olga Barabanshchikova has supported the campaign during the Belarus Fashion Week.

It’s recently been decided to move the project from virtual to real communication. The President’s Sports Club has joined the BELMUZTV TV Channel to launch master classes from champions. Anyone is invited to take part. Olympic champion Anton Kushnir has become one of the first promoters of a healthy lifestyle. He gave a master class at Minsk’s fitness centre, with his wife Natalia and daughter Verochka in attendance. The titleholder treated the campaign extremely seriously: He first ran 1.5km on a racetrack and then showed exercises on each body part. At the same time, Anton shared some professional secrets such as how to put a knee brace on (used by him at the Sochi Olympics). He recommends that all sportsmen have a bottle with water, which must be drunk in sips during a training session.

At the beginning of the master class, several young people were simply shuffling about but eventually, the numbers of those joining the training session increased. Anton was pleased to encourage them all. The sportsman had no doubt that the campaign would prove to be a success. “I support a healthy lifestyle like many others. With my colleagues, we recommend people take up sport. I hope all those who are feeling at a low ebb will benefit from the campaign and choose a healthier lifestyle. Health is the key to success we can build our hopes and dreams on it,” he said.

MT’s reference:

A spice-producing laboratory has recently been closed down in Minsk’s Galo Street. The Minsk City Executive Committee’s Interior Affairs Department informed us that the production of spice mixes was being done by a 26 year old Minsker at his rented apartment. At the address 760 grams of ready-made spice mixes were discovered, in addition to 90 grams of powder for its production, 6kg of plant sources and laboratory equipment. The young man was caught red-handed hiding over two dozen batches of the drug in ‘dead drops’.
