A bronze statue featuring a beaver in a frock coat and hat has been unveiled in the city of Bobruisk recently.
The sculptor had been expected to make the typical Bobruisk dweller (“bobr” means “a beaver” in Russian). The sculpture was placed in the old town, near the town gate. The gnawer symbolizes the well-to-do citizens of the past that added a bit of color to the whole city. The prosperous beaver in a coat is the essence of the genuine middle-class Bobruisker.
