Forestry Ministry of Belarus counts on 35m Euro loan from World Bank to purchase technology

Forestry Minister Mikhail Amelyanovich tells us that the funds will be used to purchase equipment (mainly domestically-made) to produce wood fuel and to build forestry seed centres.

Belarus is focusing on the regeneration of forests and forest cultivation, allocating huge swathes of land for the purpose and storing over 100 tonnes of forest seed annually, ensuring that it can fully satisfy renewal of forest stock. Hybrid seeds are being used to improve disease resistance, ensuring healthy trees for the future and a 10-15 percent increase in productivity.
