Belarusian Tatiana led from the first day and didn’t slow down further on. She came third in the 500m heat, but finished first in the flying lap and won her favourite discipline, the point race.

Ms. Sharakova is now training for the Rio Olympics, noting that she is heading for the mountain events. Her success is much owing to her coach, Lyubov Nemkova, who’s been training the sportswoman for twenty years. “It’s great to have such a coach,” Tatiana admits. “She is ready to support me at any time.

At Minsk-Arena, alongside Tatiana Sharakova, the Belarusian athletes won five more gold medals: Inna Savenko and Anton Muzychkin in the scratch, the Belarusian team in the team pursuit, Minsk club cyclists in the team sprint and Roman Romanov in the point race.
