Minsk’s Listapad International Film Festival will probe a new platformMinsk’s Listapad International Film Festival will probe a new platform. The spacious hall of the Moskva Cinema, which seats 700 people, will become the place for the opening and closing of the forum.

It’s hoped that eventually it will solve the problem that was thrown into sharp relief last year, when a lot of cinema lovers couldn’t get to screenings because of the shortage of places. The direction of Listapad relies on fully-fledged co-operation, they say in the press service of the festival: Moskva is the first large-format cinema, built in Minsk, it’s very monumental, Soviet, and there is definite symbolism and some links of time that the opening and closing ceremonies of our festival will be held. The place has been chosen taking into account the interests of our guests and viewers. After repairs, the cinema hall will be able to receive a lot of people.

They don’t plan to hold screenings at the Moskva Cinema, although this may be possible in the future, if the forthcoming screening is successful. Other platforms of the forum remain the same: contest films can be seen at the Tsentralny Cinema, additional screenings of especially popular films — in the Dom Kino. Pobeda won’t change its traditions — there are retrospective programmes here, as usual. The Listapadzik Contest of Children’s and Youth Films will get the hall of the Pioneer Cinema, and documentaries will be shown in the Mir Cinema.

21st Listapad International Film Festival will be held in Minsk from November 7th to 14th, 2014.
