Farewell to league
FC Dinamo Minsk and Zhodino’s Torpedo-BelAZ knocked out of Europa League third qualifying round
Dinamo Minsk’s return match in the third qualifying round of the Europa League, against Serbian Vojvodina, has resulted in a 0:2 defeat. After the away draw (1:1) our ‘white-and-blues’ only needed a no-score draw to go through to the next round. No goals were forthcoming until the 33rd minute, and the Minsk team was playing well, making several attempts at goal. However, a surprise shot into the net, by Siniša Babić, seriously complicated Dinamo’s task.
Dinamo in action
In the 56th minute, Mohammed Mounir was shown the red card, leaving the Minsk team in the minority, and vulnerable; a long-range goal from Nikola Antic brought the score to 0:2.
Meanwhile, Zhodino’s Torpedo-BelAZ, after a 0:0 draw at home, has suffered a 3:0 defeat in its return match against Rapid Vienna, with goals scored by Mario Pavelic, Thomas Schrammel and Louis Schaub.
Thus, both Dinamo and Torpedo-BelAZ have failed to reach the play-offs for the Europa League.
