The first state visit of the President of Belarus to Indonesia became a catalyst for business interaction

Expanding the borders of co-operation

Belarus welcomed Indonesia as a promising trade-economic partner in March 2013. Diplomatic relations had, of course, been established earlier but the first state visit of the President of Belarus to Indonesia became a catalyst for business interaction.

Meeting with representatives of the country’s leadership, Alexander Lukashenko said that in dialogue with Jakarta, Minsk saw no topics closed to discussion. This position was confirmed during the meeting between the President of Belarus and Indonesia’s Defence Minister, Ryamizard Ryacudu.

The visit included negotiations with the leadership of the State Military-Industrial Committee and the Defence Ministry, the visit to the Central Command Point of the Air and Air Defence Force of the Armed Forces of Belarus, as well as to the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant. Meanwhile, the President declared that Minsk and Jakarta see prospects for interaction in military-technical and civil spheres.

“We can launch the establishment of joint enterprises in Indonesia to receive a ready-made product and sell it in the countries of the region, which will be beneficial to both countries,” noted the Head of State.

Mr. Lukashenko confirmed the readiness of the Belarusian side to welcome the Indonesian President and to determine a strategy for the development of relations between the states in the near future.

Ryamizard Ryacudu assured Alexander Lukashenko that he will pass on the invitation and will personally inform his President of the results of the visit.

Only the development of joint projects lies ahead.
