Belarus and Sudan expand legal framework of bilateral co-operation

The second session of the joint Belarusian-Sudanese Commission on Co-operation — hosted by Khartoum — has truly opened new prospects. Headed jointly by Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik and Sudan’s Oil Minister, Awad Ahmad al-Jaz, the Commission has signed a protocol stipulating agreements in trade, industry, agriculture, energy, petro-chemistry and healthcare.

The legal framework of our bilateral co-operation is being expanded, with interdepartmental agreements on co-operation in education and healthcare, science and technology, with more planned for signing in the near future.

While staying in Sudan, the head of the Belarusian delegation met the President of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir. Mr. Potupchik also met the Vice Speaker of the Sudanese Parliament, Issa Bushra, and representatives of the Industry Ministry of Sudan. The parties discussed the status and prospects of bilateral co-operation in various areas, including ways to intensify political dialogue, trade, and economic and investment co-operation.
