The Director General of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus, Vladimir Gridyushko, has discussed the proposal with the Director of the Vienna State Opera, Dominique Meyer.
Eager to promote co-operation between the two theatres, Ms. Meyer has accepted an invitation to visit Belarus in December 2016, as an honorary member of the jury for the International Christmas Contest of Opera Singers.
An exchange of performances between the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Vienna State Opera is also being planned for 2017. The Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus also aims to take part in an annual open air summer festival of classical music, which is held on the banks of the Danube River. The agreement with the Bruckner Centre in Linz — one of Europe’s leading concert venues — is due to launch from 2017.
