Moldovan Government approves draft agreement with Belarus on MAZ assembly in Chisinau

The project envisages the assembly of 120 buses from Belarusian component parts, equipped with contemporary EURO-4 engines. It is expected that the project will be implemented by Moldova’s Urban Bus Fleet company while Moldova’s Economy Ministry and Belarus’ Industry Ministry will be monitoring and coordinating the process.

The bus fleet modernisation is expected to help reduce maintenance costs at the Chisinau bus park while increasing the number of passenger vehicles. According to preliminary estimates, a bus assembled in Chisinau will cost 10,000 Euros less than a ready-made vehicle by the Belarusian producer.

Both parties have previously reached a principal agreement to begin assembling the buses from Belarusian MAZ kits and to set up a joint venture in Chisinau. Representatives of the Moldovan Economy Ministry and those from the Belarusian Industry Ministry signed a memorandum on co-operation in Minsk on July 6th, 2015, in the presence of both presidents. The Moldovan President noted that the assembly of Belarusian trolleybuses in Chisinau was a good example of collaboration.
