BELARUSIAN FLAG TO BE RAN UP AT THE OLYMPICS-2006 IN TURIN ON FEBRUARY 9
Among the Belarusian participants of the XX Winter Olympic Games, the first to arrive in Turin will be the members of the biathlon team. Their arrival is scheduled for February 2, 2006 and their competitions will start on February 11.

NOC Secretary General, George Katulin, remarked that the National Flag of Belarus will be ran up over the Olympic village at 11 o’clock on February 9, and next day, in accordance with the approved quota, 42 representatives of our country will take part in the opening parade of the Olympics 2006. The captain of the Belarusian Olympic team and its flag-bearer will be chosen once all the Olympians gather together.

According to George Katulin, all the issues regarding the lodging of the Belarusian team had been successfully solved in advance. They had reached the agreement that the Belarusians will have two offices — one in Turin itself, and the other one in Sestriere. By the way, noted George Katulin, between them there will be not only telephone connection, but video communication as well, which will enable them to solve efficiently all the sportsmen’s life support problems.

The organizers of the Olympics placed at the disposal of the Belarusian delegation 6 cars with mobile phones. Besides, the representatives of the National delegation will be able to use their own vehicles on which the team members will arrive in Turin. A large group of volunteers will help the team and all the interaction issues have already been discussed with them. George Katulin also thanked Honorary Consul of Belarus in Turin, acting Olympic Attachй, Mr. Fabrizio Comba, for rendering great assistance in solving of technical issues.
