According to the Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus, Leonid Maltsev, electronic biometrics should soon ensure automated border control
“Many international airports are already using the system, which significantly simplifies the process of passport control and speeds up border crossing, using ‘electronic gates’. It also enhances the level of security. We may apply it at the busiest automobile border checkpoints,” notes Mr. Maltsev. The experiment to launch ‘electronic gates’ was introduced successfully last year at Minsk National Airport. In the first month of work, around 4,000 passengers passed through.
