Berlin hosts 8th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup stage

Belarusian Melitina Stanyuta and Yekaterina Galkina have claimed eight medals, with the leader of the Belarusian national team, Melitina Stanyuta, taking second place in the individual all-round competition — scoring 73,900 points — behind Dina Averina of Russia (74,050). Meanwhile, Belarusian Yekaterina Galkina shared third place with Georgia’s Salome Pazhava (both earning 73,150 points).

Melitina claimed top place in the exercise with the hoop, scoring 18,900 points, while Ukrainian Anna Rizatdinova achieved the same, allowing them to share gold on the medals podium. Yekaterina Galkina finished slightly behind, to take bronze with 18,250 points.

Melitina Stanyuta claimed three more awards at the Max-Schmeling-Halle multi-purpose arena in Berlin, earning silver in her exercises with the clubs, and with the ball, and coming third with the ribbon. Yekaterina Galkina added bronze in the exercise with the clubs. Before the start of the 31st Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, our Belarusian graces will take part in two more stages of the World Cup, held in July in Kazan and Baku. The Olympic tournament in artistic gymnastics will be organised from August 19th to 21st. Medals in Brazil will be awarded for individual all-round competitions and for group exercises.
