Belarusian racers are the best in the team standings at the Minsk Track Cycling Grand Prix

The performance of our domestic racers was bright at the Minsk Track Cycling Grand Prix, recently hosted by the Belarusian capital under the aegis of the International Cycling Union. Having earned 13 awards (5 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze) across various ages, the Belarusians became best in the team standings.

During the competitions, Belarusian racers performed in 12 types of programme, with a considerable part of the claimed medals belonging to the athletes of the first professional cycling club of Belarus — Minsk. Its leader, Tatiana Sharakova, successfully performed at the home tournament, winning one of the most complex track disciplines — the omnium.

The racer of Minsk’s club, Oleg Agievich was twice on top of the podium at the Minsk event. He won in scratch, being ahead of his teammate, Roman Romanov and the Ukrainian, Taras Shevchuk. He finished third in the omnium. In the men’s keirin, Artem Zaitsev unexpectedly qualified for the major final, where he earned silver in opposition to five Russian racers.

In women’s scratch, Belarusian’s occupied the whole podium. Inna Savenko was first, followed by Marina Shmaenkova and Olga Masyukovich. Savenko was also unequalled in the group race in the number of points.
