International strategic forum in Slovenia discusses the issues of opposition to contemporary threats and challenges involving Belarus

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary and Slovenia (on concurrent), H.E. Mr. Alexander Khainovsky, takes part in the annual international strategic forum, hosted by the city of Bled. This year, the major topics for discussion are the issues of counteracting modern challenges and threats in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Balkan States.

Moreover, meetings are scheduled between Mr. Khainovsky and the Slovenian Foreign Ministry which will discuss Belarusian-Slovenian political dialogue and the strengthening of economic collaboration.

The conversation will also tackle the preparation of another session of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Slovenian Commission for Trade, Economic and Sci-Tech Co-operation, as well as a bilateral business forum, which are planned for the second half of October in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Slovenia were established on July 23rd, 1992. The Belarusian Embassy in the country has been accredited on concurrent in Budapest (Hungary) since 2008.

The major instrument of expansion of economic ties is the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Slovenian Commission, founded in 2010. In H1 2014, the trade turnover in goods and services between Belarus and Slovenia totalled $150m.
