Dave Lewis: ‘I can’t stop admiring the spirit of this team’
Praise from head coach of Belarusian national ice hockey team as squad takes third place at Metal Euro Ice Hockey Challenge tournament
“I can’t stop admiring the spirit of this team, as the guys are performing not individually but for their partners, for the team and for the country they represent. Of course, we’ve made some tactical changes, which have yielded results. In their match against the French, our players fully controlled the situation. Moreover, our two pucks were scored with incomplete line-ups. I can confidently assert that some guys showed their mettle brilliantly and can rely on being included in the national team in the future,” Mr. Lewis says.
After losses to Norway and Denmark, the Belarusian team defeated France in the final match of the Metal Euro Ice Hockey Challenge, to finish third overall. Interestingly, forward Victor Andrushchenko played with a broken nose, following an injury in the second half of the match against the Danes; nevertheless, he played until the end, even taking part in the following match.
