Vietnam plans to use Belarusian experience in constructing nuclear power plant

A Vietnamese delegation recently visited Belarus to gain familiarity with the implementation of the country’s nuclear energy programme, comprising representatives of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology, and other official organisations.

At a meeting with the Director General of the Belarusian NPP, Mikhail Filimonov, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister for Science and Technology, Chu Ngoc Anh, praised the organisation and construction of the nuclear power plant. “We’re deeply impressed with your achievements, including the preparatory period ahead of construction and the organisation of construction logistics,” he noted.

It was stressed at the meeting that Belarus’ experience in constructing such strategically important facilities is of great interest to Vietnam, which is planning its first nuclear power station soon. The Vietnamese delegation also toured the training and information centres of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and is considering collaboration in training its own specialists.
