Olympic ice hockey qualifying tournament to be held at Minsk-Arena Sports Complex
According to the General Secretary of the Belarusian ice Hockey Federation, Yaroslav Zavgorodny, the arena is the best choice for the event. “Tickets for the Olympic qualifying tournament will go on sale on March 31st. The Federation has prepared a number of offers for fans, such as receiving a free ticket for each two purchases. We hope fans will support our team,” stresses Mr. Zavgorodny.
A hospitality zone is being arranged in the same style as during the 2014 IIHF World Championship. Meanwhile, Hyundai Auto Grad is helping with advertising. A recent press conference included presentation of a unique logo for the event, depicting a puck in the rink.
The Belarusian national ice hockey team is to begin training for the Olympic qualifying tournament in mid-August, under coach Dave Lewis. The squad will play two games against Kazakhstan ahead of the qualifier, notes Mr. Zavgorodny. He adds, “TV companies from Denmark and Slovenia are keen to broadcast the event.”
The Olympic qualifying tournament will take place in Minsk between September 1st and 4th, 2016, with Dave Lewis’ team competing for a place in PyeongChang, facing squads from Denmark, Poland and Slovenia.
