This year, international Men’s 2016 Field Hockey Commonwealth Cup will have two rounds, with the first stage hosted by Brest on April 15th and the second round being held in Minsk, in August
Belarus-France match
Teams from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan will participate: Brest’s Stroitel, Minsk hockey club, Dinamo-Elektrostal, Besarys hockey club and Vinnitsa’s OKS-ShVSM. Every team will play the others at Brest’s Stroitel Stadium.
This season, Belarusian clubs will perform in prestigious European tournaments. The 2015 champion — Minsk — will compete for a medal in the Field Hockey Champions Cup, in the Trophy division. A holder of the Belarusian Cup — Brest’s Stroitel — will play in a lower ranked tournament.
The Cup of European Champions (Challenge 1) will be hosted by Austrian Vienna, from May 13th-16th. Between games, teams will concentrate on their performance in the Belarusian Championship, which will be held in reduced format this year: by mid-June, a champion will be announced. In autumn, our Belarusian clubs will play the Field Hockey Belarusian Cup.

Worthy performance at Eurochallenge
Belarus’ national ice hockey team claims victory in both matches against France
Unlike the first match, where the Belarusians were obliged to use penalty shoot-outs before taking their win, the second meeting saw Dave Lewis’ trainees take clear supremacy. Nikita Ustinenko opened the score already in the sixth minute, with France equalising in the 14th (thanks to Ritz). However, this was the French squad’s only puck. As the second period began, Gavrus took our team into the lead, and the third period marked devastating defeat for France, with a score of 8:1.
Eurochallenge matches are an important stage for the Belarusian national team in preparing for the World Championship.
