This year’s festival was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Anatoly Bogatyrev — the founder of the Belarusian school of composition. He successfully combined creative and educational activities, teaching People’s Artists of the USSR and Belarus and Honoured People of Art of the Republic. He boasted great erudition and knowledge of theoretical and practical composition of symphonic and choral works.
The National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus, headed by Maestro Mikhail Finberg, prepared special programmes of Bogatyrev’s works, as well as those by his contemporaries and followers. A student contest also delighted music fans, while exhibitions were opened and creative meetings were conducted.
