Belarusian State University’s Faculty of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies opens ‘bio-informatics’ speciality

Until now, none of Belarusian universities has prepared specialists in the sphere of bio-information technology. The opening of such a specialisation is caused by the development of scientific researches in the sphere of DNA interpretation for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. There is now an urgent need for qualified specialist-researchers, with a good command of computer technology, methods of bio-informatics and intellectual analysis of genetic data, as well as those able to develop and launch new bio-information technologies for contemporary biomedical techniques.

It’s expected that would-be specialists in the sphere of bio-informatics will be popular in the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences: The Institute for Genetics and Cytology, the Forest Institute, the United Institute of Informatics Problems, alongside the Belarusian State University, Republican scientific and practical centres of adult and child oncology, haematology and immunology.
