According to the Autostat Analytical Agency, there are 355 automobiles per 1,000 residents in Belarus. The agency’s ranking is based on its own data, information from the World Bank and the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) studies. The world’s average availability of automobiles per 1,000 residents stands at 162.

Russia is ranked 52nd, with 317 automobiles per 1,000. Latvia is ranked 47th (344 automobiles). Hungary and the Bahamas are ranked 48th and 49th respectively (343 each). This is followed by Israel (50th position with 333 automobiles per 1,000 residents), Ukraine (69 and 191 respectively), Kyrgyzstan (84 and 146), and Azerbaijan (89 and 125).

Brunei is the world leader in the number of automobiles per capita: 873. The top ten countries also include Puerto Rico (819), the USA (801), Iceland (758), Luxembourg (733), Australia and Kuwait (723 each), Malta (708), Italy (705), and Guam (676).

The lowest number of automobiles per capita is found in Ethiopia with two vehicles per 1,000 residents.
