Belarus’ Arman-Marshall Silla claims bronze at WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix, hosted by Manchester

Belarusian Arman-Marshall Silla has taken taekwondo bronze in the over 80kg category, after losing his semi-final match to German Volker Wodzich 0:1, in the additional round. Volker went on to claim gold.

On his way to the semi-final, the Belarusian athlete defeated Yassine Trabelsi of Tunisia (11:2), Leonardo Basile of Italy (7:1) and Olympic bronze over 80kg medallist Dong-Min Cha of Korea (13:5).

This is Arman-Marshall Silla’s second WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix bronze this season, having won a medal in September, at a tournament held in Astana.

Since November 2013, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has been organising major World Grand Prix competitions, and has awarded 31 best fighters across various weight categories. The tournament in Manchester welcomed more than 200 titled athletes from 56 countries, with points goings towards the 2016 Summer Olympics qualification.

This year, Arman-Marshall Silla also won silver (over 87kg) at the Taekwondo Grand Prix Series in Moscow and gold (under 87kg) at the European WTF Tournament, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
