“At the border, the phytosanitary service carries out detailed control over Customs Union goods, including checking that cargo matches that declared in accompanying documents,” the Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food, Vladimir Grakun, has told journalists at a press conference in Minsk

Regarding Russia’s comments on cases of illegal re-export, Mr. Grakun notes, “Now, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia doesn’t have any claims against Belarus or its state services, which supply goods to the Russian market.”

Recently, Alexey Bogdanov, who heads the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities at the Belarusian Ministry for Agriculture and Food, announced that claims of illegal re-export of European vegetables and fruits through Belarus (under embargo by Russia) are untrue. Mr. Grakun emphasises that monitoring of such transit is being directed to governors of the regions bordering Russia. He asserts, “Belarus will fulfil all agreements reached during negotiations with Russia.”
