In the final, Yevgeny Kurta was up against the Moldovan, Sergey Kryzhanovsky. The winner of this tight match was settled in the 13th frame, after around 2 hours 45 minutes of play. With the scores tied at six frames apiece, the Moldovan took the deciding frame for a 7:6 victory and the European title.

In the women’s final, Russian, Diana Mironova, defeated Anastasia Kovalchuk from Ukraine in seven frames — 5:2. In the quarterfinal, Mironova had defeated Belarus’ Yekaterina Perepechaeva (5:2). The latter being the only teammate able to reach this stage.

The 2009 champion, Belarusian, Violetta Klimova, was also among the participants at the present tournament. During the last years, the girls have appeared on the second step of the European pedestal several times. Representatives of the men’s team have won only bronze.

It is not the first time the Belarus has hosted large ‘Free Pyramid’ tournaments. In the autumn of 2012, the Minsk-Arena was home to the final part of the World Championship. Belarus’ Olga Dobriyan managed to take the bronze in the women’s competition.
